Senior Infrastructure Engineer required to join a large company based out of Watford. My client is looking for proactive, self-starter with previous infrastructure engineering experience to join their dynamic and growing IT function on a full-time, permanent basis.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and evolving both cloud-based and on-premise systems, ensuring the reliability of server environments and network services. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver effective support and drive infrastructure transformation and improvements.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer

• Act as a technical advisor during the design and planning of infrastructure systems, ensuring they're maintainable, scalable, and aligned with operational needs.
• Contribute to long-term IT strategy by drawing on hands-on experience and current industry trends.
• Help shape and refine internal processes and policies to improve efficiency and service reliability.
• Support the evaluation and rollout of new tools or services, particularly during pilot or proof-of-concept phases.
• Manage infrastructure changes with a disciplined approach, ensuring risks are minimized through proper validation and testing.
• Provide 3rd line support for Infrastructure services as needed
• Collaborate on root cause analysis and permanent fixes for recurring issues, including patching and configuration updates.

Required skills and experience of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer

• Relevant IT qualification, ideally degree level
• CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, or ITIL Foundation v3+
• Microsoft O365 and Azure Administrator / Azure AD and Cloud Integration
• Azure networking (private endpoints, Azure firewalls, VPNs, IP Groups etc)
• IaaS (Windows / Linux), PowerShell (scripting and automation), Hyper-V, SD-WAN
• Operational Management and Projects experience
• Over 5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, ideally within structured or regulated IT environments.
• Ability to gain SC Clearance.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including global teams, third parties, users and customers.
• Track record of delivering infrastructure solutions on time and to a high standard, with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
