Role: Commissioning Officer

Location: Hybrid Working - Bedford

Duration: 12 months

Money on offer: Day rate - £200-300 per day Umbrella PAYE DOE

Experienced Commissioning Officer sought for one of our main local government organisations, based in Bedford, on an interim basis for a period of 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a council going through council wide organisational change.

The Commissioning Officer will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, purchasing and monitoring services to meet the needs of adults with social care needs
  • Working with service providers, assessing needs, and ensuring services are effective and efficient
  • Working with service providers to procure services that meet the identified needs, ensuring value for money and quality
  • Monitoring the performance of service providers and ensuring services are meeting the needs of service users and are effective
  • Working with other agencies, such as NHS, to ensure integrated and joined-up services for residents
  • Prioritising the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.

The ideal candidate for the Commissioning Officer role should have:

  • Ideally a degree in social work, public health or a related discipline
  • Experience within local government or wider health authorities
  • A good understanding of relevant legislation and government initiatives
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a complex environment to deliver the team's functions.
