At Sellick Partnership, training and development isn’t just something we talk about – it’s part of who we are. Continuous improvement is a core part of our team-based culture and a driving force behind our values and our success story. Our accreditations and our consistently strong retention rates all demonstrate the strength of that commitment. Training at Sellick Partnership is predominantly delivered in-house by an experienced team who completely appreciate the specific challenges faced and will offer their expert advice and guidance.
Our more formalised training programmes are carefully designed, fully coordinated, and continuously measured to ensure objectives and meaningful results are achieved. Each stage of training reflects the level you are at in your career in the recruitment industry, taking into account your individual goals, personal development plan (PDP), and the market, sector or team you work in.
A structured six-month induction programme for Consultants with little or no experience. You’ll build a strong foundation in recruitment through interactive training sessions, with plenty of opportunities to put what you’ve learned into practice straight away. Clear objectives are set with your manager after each course, ensuring you are supported and can progress through each milestone along the way.
For those who have been with us 12 months or more, quarterly sessions cover advanced recruitment and sales techniques, alongside skills such as written sales and communication, effective meetings and presentations and winning edges. These courses are designed to challenge you and their market relevance will help you maintain a competitive edge in the market.
For individuals preparing either to step into or further develop within their management role, we offer tailored development focused on people leadership, coaching, strategic thinking and succession planning. This ensures our future leaders are confident, capable and ready to inspire others.
Our commitment to training and development doesn’t stop with structured programmes. We provide ongoing opportunities that ensure growth feels personal, flexible and continuous, with learning embedded into daily life at Sellick Partnership.
From soft skills and wellbeing workshops to ad-hoc sessions shaped around the needs of different teams, we make sure training and development stays relevant, practical and accessible to everyone. In addition to our core training, you’ll also benefit from:
Training and development at Sellick Partnership is flexible. Alongside formal programmes, we run informal and ad-hoc sessions, delivered both face-to-face and virtually. These include:
Lunch & Learn sessions – bite-sized learning opportunities held over lunch and led by experts within the business.
Team-specific training workshops – focused sessions tailored to the real challenges faced by different teams.
Specialist workshops – covering topics such as Meetings & Visits, Emotional Intelligence, and Stress Awareness for Performance.
These additional opportunities keep learning fresh, relevant and immediately applicable to your day-to-day work.
Sometimes teams or individuals need something more specific than our structured programmes or informal sessions. We offer bespoke training to address particular challenges or skills, whether that’s through additional coaching, external courses, or more focused sessions.
This applies across the whole business, from Consultants building client relationships to colleagues in Central Services developing specialist expertise across finance, compliance, marketing, IT and operations. We ensure everyone gets the support they need to perform at their best.
Training and development at Sellick Partnership goes beyond technical skills. There is a strong focus on building soft skills such as communication, resilience and relationship management.
Progress is supported through regular one-to-ones with Managers and an annual Personal Development Plan (PDP), helping individuals track achievements and to ensure training stays relevant and aligned with their career journey.
Our training and development programme is led by Group Director Ray Wareing, who joined Sellick Partnership in 2002 as a Recruitment Consultant. Now a key member of Board of Directors, Ray brings over 25 years of hands-on recruitment experience to his role. Ray continues to actively recruit on behalf of several clients, which means he remains closely connected to the challenges and opportunities our Consultants face on a daily basis. This practical insight ensures our training remains relevant, impactful and aligned with the real demands of the professional services markets. His ongoing focus on succession planning and continuous improvement helps drive our growth and ensures our people are always learning and progressing.
